The Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology is a technical vocational training institute that build and shapes the future artisans of Namibia and the world at large. The NIMT offers courses in mining, manufacturing and engineering. The NIMT started of with one campus in Arandis and has expanded to four campuses all over Namibia. The main goal of this institution s to provide the industry with quality artisans to build the future of our country.
Interesting facts:
Founded in 1991 by Mr. E.D.G. Mueller with the vision to provide technical and vocational training to Namibians.
2000: Opened the second campus in Arandis, specializing in Building and Civil Trades.
2007: De Beers generously funded the establishment of the Northern Campus (NNC) in Tsumeb.
2009: Launched the Southern Campus in Keetmanshoop, expanding NIMT’s national presence.
All campuses are secured and monitored, with added security provided by trained guard dogs.
Campuses are known for their peaceful, nature-filled environments, where visitors are often greeted by a variety of birds roaming freely.
The tranquil setting creates an ideal atmosphere for focused learning and personal development.
In 2017, NIMT supported over 4,000 students and employed more than 270 staff members.
Annually, NIMT produces between 300 to 500 qualified graduates, many of whom go on to work in Namibia’s mining and industrial sectors.
With over 32 years of service, NIMT continues to play a vital role in Namibia’s vocational training landscape.
